From Boston to the World
philanthropist.run held its earliest meetings in Boston, Massachusetts, near the Liberty Tree site, where the Sons of Liberty and early American Patriots gathered to plan what would become the Boston Tea Party and the American Revolution.
The original Liberty Tree is gone, but the revolutionary spirit lives on, along with the need for a more modern civic meeting space: high-speed internet, A/C, conference rooms, and yes, flushable toilets much appreciated.
A Long-Term Headquarters Vision
Organizations connected to this effort have held multiple long-term office leases in Downtown Boston and the Liberty Square area. Today, the RunPurple project at philanthropist.run is sponsored by Eric Melin's philanthropist.org, Inc.
Consistent with the premise of Eric's writing on portability and voting addresses, we are seeking a more permanent commercial office location. This is not simply about finding another Boston office. It is about building a practical headquarters model for a global civic platform.
This is a complex decision involving team relocation, long-term leases, 5–10 year planning horizons, buildout budgets, operating expenses, technology infrastructure, accessibility, and the normal concerns of any commercial lease or real estate purchase.
HQ Requirements
- Class A/B commercial space
- 24/7 building access and basic amenities
- High-speed internet and modern workplace infrastructure
- Public transportation accessible
- Desk seating for 4–10 people
- Conference room access for 10–20 people
Location Priorities
- Boston, Cambridge, or MetroWest Boston
- New England within roughly 60 miles of Boston
- New York City or Washington, D.C. metro
- United States, preferably near a major airport
- Western Europe, then global locations as practical
Real Estate Sponsor Sought
We are seeking a Real Estate Sponsor who wishes to support immediate headquarters needs with a 36-month time commitment. Support could include donated space, discounted rent, shared office access, conference room access, buildout support, or a creative sponsorship structure.
We are also interested in exploring underutilized office space, including the possibility of unused public office space being made available to qualified civic, educational, and nonprofit projects where appropriate.
Why This Matters
A permanent headquarters provides more than office space. It creates a stable home for volunteers, meetings, candidate support, educational programs, media outreach, research, and international collaboration. As our community grows, a permanent headquarters will help us serve more people, operate more efficiently, and strengthen our long-term mission.
Any Party. Any Election. Any Race. Any Country. We don't pick winners. You do.
