Purple Dot Verified™
Process-based, not ideology-based.
Purple Dot Verified™ is process-based, not ideology-based. You can ActBlue or WinRed and still RunPurple. A Purple Dot simply means the person completed an assessment, published a public values statement, signed a pledge, and passed a basic review. The policy quiz is intentionally quick and easy 20 questions. A Purple Dot is FREE.
A Purple Dot on a nametag is like an asterisk near a name that says, “I completed 20 questions, I am running for something, and I put my core values online for your review.” It does not mean we, TPP, agree with every policy position or support the specific candidate.
The candidate was required to pay no money and created a free account with our platform. Generally, these candidates are asking for fundraising support on a separate platform, which we will link to. You can support a candidate financially in either location.
A public snapshot. We support all candidates, everywhere.
A Purple Dot Verified™ candidate can always change a position on any issue, switch parties, or even countries. Voting records in office may not map exactly with questionnaire questions.
However, Verification provides a simple snapshot in history of what the candidate’s “official” position was at a point in time for 20 simple questions.
Neither Purple Dot Verified™ nor Purple Dot Certified™ constitutes an endorsement by The Philanthropist Party, philanthropist.run, or philanthropist.org.
Purple Dot Certified™
Purple Dot Certified™ is slightly different from Verified.
The candidate has paid $500 for a human certification process by us. The candidate submitted a 200-question in-depth policy review questionnaire, detailed background check, a more detailed public assessment, core values statement, and human review by our team through a phone or Zoom interview so it cannot be completed entirely by a staffer or third party.
Candidates tend to be USA-specific but can be anywhere in the world with language translation support. Candidates can apply funding while in Verified Status towards Purple Dot Certified™.
All candidates verified or certified are encouraged to use a Purple Dot in addition to other campaign merchandise, banners, and marketing. We provide small dot stickers intended for networking name-tags, name badges, name cards, buttons, and related uses. We ask to be alerted if a candidate is using either Purple Dot Certified™ or Purple Dot Verified™ incorrectly.
No funding advantage.
Paying $500 to philanthropist.run does not increase the chance of getting funding. It only increases the amount of information in the public record.
Our mission is to grow better candidates.
Methodology
We are data scientists, however humans are not machines. Big Data does not explain political decision making and public policy. No formula can explain who will become the next Trump or Obama.
Our 20 questions are designed to be simple — to spark a discussion. Policy wonks may complain that the questionnaire is too libertarian and that there is a strong bias in our methodology. TPP does have a stated and obvious bias to the purple top-right quadrant. However, a Purple Dot does not have any bias or agenda. The agenda is: Values First, not Party.
Both the basic 20 Questions and detailed 200 Questions are designed to be neutral and universal. Fifteen of the 20 questions are locked, non-flexible, and timeless. Five questions are meant to be more flexible to evolve as society and culture evolve. Similarly, 150 of the 200 questions are designed to evolve and change.
Our data is available for public inspection and API licensing. Inquire if you have academic or commercial interests. If you are a data scientist or policy researcher, volunteer opportunities provide full access to databases after a simple commitment of 100 hours of volunteer effort over a six-month time period. Inquire with a CV and statement of interest.
